Доклад Катерины: "Готье против Верлена: об одном предпочтении Н. Гумилева в французской поэзии".
В незаконченном стихотворении О. Мандельштама о Н. Гумилеве есть такие строки:
Автоматичен, вежлив и суров,
На рубеже двух славных поколений
Забыл о бесхарактерном Верлене
И Теофиля принял в сонм богов.

То же противопоставление «Теофиль Готье vs Поль Верлен» можно встретить и в статье В. Жирмунского «Преодолевшие символизм» (1916), а также в других критических отзывах, посвященных поэзии акмеистов. В своем докладе я хотела бы проследить, как возникает идея противопоставить двух французских поэтов друг другу и насколько она соответствует взглядам самого Гумилева.
Доклад Томаса: (Post-)Soviet Imaginations of the Russian Periphery
“(Post-)Soviet Imaginations of the Russian Periphery” sets out to investigate the
transformation and continuities that underlie the representation of peripheral spaces in
Russian-language narrative media through the 20 th and 21 st century. After giving a brief overview of the project and the planning stage of its first thematic chapter on the impact of infrastructural projects in Southern Siberia, I will focus my talk on the first
fundamental question the project needs to address: how can the “Russian periphery” be
grasped conceptually and what does it mean to study the representation of peripheral
spaces under a cultural studies paradigm? To answer this question, I will discuss Juri
Lotman’s classic definition of the periphery alongside more recent works by human
geographers and scholars of globalization in order to move toward an understanding of
the periphery based on its relational status vis-a-vis regional, national and global
centers within complex infrastructural, economic, cultural and informational networks.
